Day 1 - 15th July

A few months or so ago, someone made me aware of a talk by a gentleman called Gary Taubes on YouTube.

It really shocked me but made perfect sense.

Gary has written a couple of books. 'Good calories, bad calories' and 'Why we get fat'.
His talk was on the second book. It details the actual reason why our bodies get fat - more detail than just eating too much makes us fat.

To cut to the chase, eating fat doesn't make us fat but eating carbohydrate makes us fat by stimulating insulin production. Insulin stimulates our body to uptake fat.

Now, what this little experiment is, is to change a portion of my diet to see what influence it has. Most of my diet is carbs. It's easy food - biscuits, sweets, cake, pasta, potatoes, bread. Convenient!

My wife doesn't believe Gary Taubes so I'm not changing my diet out of work but will changing it at work. I'm intrigued to see if that will show any difference.

Food eaten:
Breakfast - four sausages, three hard boiled eggs
Lunch - a soup bowl full of sliced beef, chicken, salmon
Dinner - m & s chicken tikka masala, rice onion baki, poppadoms, nan, chutney, waffle, White choc, raspberries, cream
Three coffees, water, orange squash, 1 x Stella Artois bottle

Exercise:
Cycle to work
Cycle home
Moderate amount of walking at work
Walk dog

I don't think I'm fat, but I do think I have some 'podge'.
